I recommend Pilates for everyone, at any age, even if you have lost strength through inactivity, illness, or injury. Pilates can also be challenging enough for dancers and athletes.
Most people come to Pilates because they have a lower back or a hip issue or an injury. Then they realize that it is a little more than what they expected it to be. It can change your life.
Think of it as a new language. You learn how to use your body in a mindful way. During your sessions, your mind is constantly watching your movements. You can’t zone out, and so you step away from your worries for the hour you practice. You take the awareness you learn in the studio and apply it to your daily life. My clients tell me, “I feel like I’m standing up taller. When I’m sitting at my desk, I pull my shoulders down.”
